Advantages of polyethylene wax for PVC products
Paraffin is usually a white, colorless and odorless waxy solid, which melts at 47 ℃ -64 ℃, with a density of about 0.9g/cm3. It is insoluble in water, but soluble in ether, benzene and some lipids. Polyethylene wax is a low molecular weight polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer widely used in coatings. The main functions of polyethylene wax in solvent based coating are: extinction, scratch resistance, wear resistance, polishing resistance, marking resistance, adhesion resistance, precipitation resistance and thixotropy; Good lubrication and processability; Positioning of metallic pigments.
In general, due to the low price of paraffin, many manufacturers of PVC pipe profiles like to use paraffin as a lubricant. However, due to the low softening point and poor dispersion of paraffin, the temperature is too high in the production process, and the paraffin is basically liquefied and evaporated into gaseous state. The brightness of the PVC pipe will be affected, and sometimes there will be stains on the surface due to uneven dispersion. However, PVC pipe profiles produced with polyethylene wax will not have such problems, because polyethylene wax has a high softening point, and under high temperature conditions, polyethylene wax will only become liquid. If the viscosity of polyethylene wax is high, the dispersion effect is not good, but the brightness is very good. If the viscosity of polyethylene wax is low, the dispersion and brightness will be very good.
