New chemical materials are the most dynamic and promising new areas in the petrochemical industry. At present, some basic materials and high-performance materials in China still rely heavily on imports. Compared with traditional materials, new chemical materials have the characteristics of light weight, excellent performance, strong functionality, high technical content and high added value, and the development of new chemical materials industry has an important supporting role in all fields of the national economy, especially in the field of high technology and cutting-edge technology, and plays an increasingly important role in responding to the global energy crisis, climate problems, environmental pollution and water scarcity and other urgent issues.

   The recently released "Guiding Opinions on Supporting The Revitalization of the Petrochemical Industry" proposes that in the future, China will focus on the development of high-performance special engineering materials and special engineering plastic resins and alloys, silicone deep processing products, molten fluoropolymers and fine chemicals, high-performance special fibers and composite materials, high-performance polyurethanes, and nanocompositesHigh-tech products such as polymer materials and special rubber. Among them, the technologies to be promoted include the industrialization technology of new rare functional additives for polymer materials and the preparation and application technology of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) resin; The technologies that need to be developed are mainly formaldehyde-free urea-formaldehyde resin manufacturing technology, polyphenylene ether modification (MPPO) and application technology, organic fluorine special monomer and high-function fluoropolymer industrialization technology, aramid III fiber industrialization technology, nano-composite thermoplastic polyester and transmission line anti-icing nanocomposite coating industrialization technology, high-end nylon preparation and post-processing technology, polycarbonate synthesis industrialization technology, high-performance polyimide film key technology development, etc.

   Polymer materials with new rare earth functional additives as an indispensable important component of the polymer materials industry, not only can give the material special properties, but also significantly improve the processing performance of plastics, improve product quality, help improve the lack of high-grade products in China's plastics processing industry. China already has independent intellectual property rights, reached the international advanced level of rare earth polymer functional additives and related low-cost high-performance composite material preparation technology, the development of polypropylene for the new nucleation agent, polyolefin multi-functional additives, inorganic particle surface treatment agents and so on. The application of new rare earth additives and the key technologies of industrialization will enable the application of rare earth additives to advance to a broader field of polyolefins and engineering plastics.   PEEK resin in the special engineering plastics in the comprehensive performance of the most excellent, it has a high heat resistance grade, radiation resistance, corrosion resistance, fatigue resistance, high strength, wear resistance, good electrical properties and other characteristics, in aerospace, national defense and military industry, electronic information, medical and health, automobile manufacturing, household appliances and other fields widely used. The research and development of China's PEEK is almost synchronized with the international community, and in 2002, it was industrialized and built into an industrial test device. Since then, after several years of hard work, through the original innovation of related technologies, China's scientific researchers have broken through the restrictions of diphenyl sulfone, which has been using non-polar water insoluble solvents for nearly 30 years, successfully prepared polyether ether tungsten by using a new polar water-soluble solvent, and based on China's national conditions, opened up a new monomer raw material route and reduced the cost of raw materials. This technology needs to be promoted urgently.

     Modified polyphenylene ether (MPPO) has outstanding physical and mechanical properties, heat resistance and dimensional stability, and has a wide range of applications in automotive, electronics, office supplies, machinery, aviation and military fields. Only a few domestic manufacturers rely on imported polyphenylene ether (PPO) to produce MPPO, and the supply of PPO raw materials is tight and rawProblems such as production technical barriers have led to a serious shortage of MPPO. If MPPO can fully realize localization, it will further promote the rapid development of domestic high-tech industries such as electronic information, automobiles, and national defense and military industries.
